A Spoon Earned

|

In the spirit of the phrase "a penny saved is a penny earned," I want to tell a story about what happened last night. I was using a spoon to pack my lunch for work the next day and I put the spoon in the sink after I was done. As it turns out, that happened to be the only spoon left in the sink that night. I was then left with two options. I could have decided to leave that spoon for the next morning and move on with the rest of my night, but that's not what I did. Life decisions are not always about the spoon, but this time it was. I made a choice about that spoon. A wise internet photo once said, "do something today that your future self will thank you for." I washed that spoon with all of my hands, and today, my future self is thankful that my past self washed the spoon. If Benjamin Franklin was around today, I suppose he would have said something along the lines of "a spoon washed is a spoon earned."
