Warmth Embraced by Wonder

|

If I'm being honest, I have to admit that the combination of having a cold and waking up to snowfall had me feeling less than 100% today. In the midst of these feelings, I found happiness and wonder in a place I didn't expect.

Because of my class and work schedule, I didn't have a chance to eat lunch until a small break late in the afternoon, so my plan was to go buy a quick lunch and come back in time for class. As I walked outside, I had to confront the cold, bleak air with skies devoid of the daylight that I longed for. After purchasing my food (a burrito from Tomate), I came back to Tech and found a place to eat. This is where the wonder began. On days like today, most people choose to drink hot cocoa, coffee, or something similar. But I'm not like most people. I unraveled my burrito and discovered to my surprise that it was still very hot despite being outside for several minutes. As I began to eat this burrito, I found that every byte held within it a warmth embraced by wonder. It was as if to say that the dark skies could not prevail against the warmth of my burrito.

If you're feeling down because of the weather, I want to take this opportunity to tell you that this darkness isn't the end of the story and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. For me, that light came in the form of a burrito, but for you it may be something different. The important thing is to never close your heart off to the things in life that bring light into dark places, the things that make you say "wow," the things that truly evoke wonder.
